Overview
Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women. A key risk factor is genital infection with human papilloma virus (HPV). HPV is among the most commonly sexually transmitted infections and there are more than 100 known HPV types. Persistent HPV infection is linked to cervical and other cancers, so testing for prevalent high risk types supports prevention and screening strategies.
The f HPV typingTM kit is a molecular diagnostic assay designed for simultaneously detecting and direct typing of 16 specific HPV types by multiplex fluorescent PCR. It uses 16 primers amplifying within E6 and E7 regions of HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66 and 68. Intended for use on Applied Biosystems ABI PRISM® sequencers, it uses a five-dye fluorescent system allowing multiplex amplification in the same tube for automated viral typing.
